En dépit de l’interdiction de pénétrer dans Central Park, les fans se sont réunis, comme tous les ans, tard dans la nuit au Strawberry Fields Memorial de New York, afin de rendre hommage à John Lennon. Les fans de John Lennon qui espéraient qu’un nouveau maire à New York leur permettrait de passer la nuit du 8 décembre dans Central Park vont déchanter. Le maire Michael Bloomberg refuse de modifier les politiques mises en place par son prédécesseur, Rudolph Giuliani, qui préconisait un couvre-feu à 1 heure. Cette photo semble avoir fait réagir bien du monde, poussant la jeune femme à établir un communiqué de presse, publié ce jour dans le « London’s Evening Standard », article intitulé : « Why Stella and I won’t wear fur », que nous vous livrons ci-après. « I’m vegetarian, I don’t wear leather and I wouldn’t dream of wearing fur, so when Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) asked me to shoot the poster for their new campaign, I jumped at the opportunity. (see November 12) Over the past year or so, it has suddenly become fashionable to wear fur again – it’s back on the catwalks, worn to film premieres by the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Halle Berry, and to parties by Kate Moss and Sophie Dahl.
