C’est très prochainement que l’éditeur « Genesis » commercialisera, dans un tirage limité à 2 500 exemplaires, un livre dédié à George Harrison, et plus spécialement, au célèbre « Concert For George » s’étant tenu en 2002 au Royal Albert Hall. Deux versions de ce livre seront proposées. La version « deluxe » comprendra en plus de l’ouvrage, un poster spécial de ce concert avec des facsimilés des autographes d’Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, et Ringo Starr. Paul McCartney et Eric Clapton unis pour demander la libération de Aung San Suu Kyi

Quelques-uns des plus grands noms de la chanson et du rock ont décidé d’unir leurs efforts pour réclamer la libération de la dirigeante birmane Aung San Suu Kyi, toujours assignée à résidence. Les groupes U2, Pearl Jam, Cold Play, R.E.M., Match Box Twenty, Indigo Girls et des chanteurs comme Sting, Paul McCartney et Eric Clapton lanceront le 26 octobre prochain un album dédié à la dissidente birmane, secrétaire générale de la Ligue nationale pour la démocratie (LND) et prix Nobel de la Paix. Les bénéfices produit par la vente du double CD seront versés à l’association US Campaign for Burma, qui a souligné que « la musique a contribué à apporter des changements dans de nombreuses parties du monde ». « Je tiens à ce que les gens qui écoutent ma musique en Birmanie sachent qu’ils écoutent un artiste qui soutient leur liberté », a de son côté déclaré Eric Clapton.

C’est dans une très récente interview confiée à « Contactmusic » qu’Eric Clapton revient pour la première fois sur la mort de on ami George Harrison, et livre quelques secrets : « Je dois dire que je n’étais pas forcément très présent pour entretenir notre amitié, mais elle existait tout de même toujours. Ce qui me rend triste c’est que jamais je n’ai su combien il était malade, car au moment de sa mort, j’étais en tournée au Japon. La dernière fois que je l’ai rencontré c’était après la tentative de cambriolage de son manoir, où il avait été agressé. George était alors devenu bien solitaire, paranoïaque, et méfiant par rapport à tout ce que la vie pouvait lui apporter… ».
