« Electricity » est la septième chanson du 19e album studio solo de Ringo Starr, Give More Love, paru en 2017.
La chanson a été coécrite par Starr et Glen Ballard, qui avaient auparavant écrit ensemble « Y Not », « Confirmation » et « Anthem ».
« Electricity » a été écrite avec Glen Ballard, que j’ai rencontré à l’origine par l’intermédiaire de Dave Stewart. C’est encore une de mes petites leçons d’histoire personnelle, qui parle de mon ancien groupe Rory and the Hurricanes, et de Johnny « Guitar » Byrne, qui était un musicien incroyable que nous avions dans le groupe. Il y a aussi une référence à « Gangster of Love », qui est un classique d’un autre grand guitariste, Johnny « Guitar » Watson, originaire d’Amérique. Glen avait cette idée de « l’électricité qui lui traversait les doigts », alors j’ai ajouté cet effet vocal complètement fou afin que ce morceau donne vraiment une sensation électrique. C’est le premier morceau de l’album sur lequel nous avons ajouté de la guitare, et j’ai demandé à Joe Walsh de venir, parce que c’est un membre de la famille et un type très électrique lui aussi, un être humain magnifique qui joue formidablement bien. De quoi d’autre a-t-on besoin ?
