George Harrison - "Brainwashed" : un nouveau single, et un nouveau clip -

Comme nous vous en avions informé il y a de cela quelques semaines, c’est dans le courant du mois de Mai que sera publié un single extrait du premier album posthume de George Harrison, « Brainwashed ». Le titre choisi est « Any Road ».

Si on en croit le communiqué de presse ci-après, émanant directement de Capitol records, cette chanson devrait en plus bénéficier d’un film promotionel qui sera le premier depuis 1988.

Un petit évènement !

One of the standout tracks from the acclaimed « Brainwashed » album, « Any Road, » on Dark Horse/EMI, will be serviced to radio next week.

The accompanying promo video includes previously unreleased footage that lovingly celebrates George’s life. His humor and spirit are captured in the studio, in concert, casual shots and animated footage. « Any Road » is the first new George Harrison music video since « This is Love » from Cloud Nine in 1988.

Written by George Harrison, « Any Road » is produced by George, Jeff Lynne and Dhani Harrison. The track features George on slide and acoustic guitars and banjulele; Jeff Lynne on bass, piano and backing vocals; Dhani Harrison on electric guitar and backing vocals; and Jim Keltner on drums.

Critics have embraced the album. Rolling Stone magazine gave the record a four star review, saying, « `Brainwashed’ is a warm, frank goodbye. Fear and acceptance run together in these songs, anger as well as serenity. Most importantly, there are lots of guitars. Harrison died before he could finish `Brainwashed.’ But his co-producers — his son Dhani and ELO’s Jeff Lynne — have completed the album with impressive sensitivity, to the point that Harrison feels immensely present … It is a fine, enchanting epitaph. »

The New York Times said, « The music is vintage Harrison: laid-back but by no means underpowered, with melodies tugged between major and minor keys, and lyrics that are filled with humorous wordplay but are also cuttingly direct. Harrison’s trademark slide guitar shines through everywhere and is particularly fluid in the instrumental `Marwa Blues’ and at the start of `Stuck Inside a Cloud.’ This is not a guitarist who retired to the garden. »
