« Bamboula » est la septième chanson du 18e album studio solo de Ringo Starr, Postcards From Paradise, sorti en 2015.
La chanson avait d’abord fait l’objet d’une démo enregistrée par Starr sous le titre « Clav Funk ».
« Bamboula » a été coécrite par Starr et Van Dyke Parks, qui joue également du piano, de l’accordéon et du synthétiseur sur le morceau.
Les deux hommes avaient déjà collaboré à l’écriture de « La De Da » en 1998, « Walk With You » en 2010 et « Samba » en 2012. Van Dyke Parks avait également participé à trois chansons de l’album Ringo Rama, paru en 2003.
