Au terme d’un sondage effectué par la chaîne de télévision britannique channel Four, l’album Ok Computer de la formation anglaise Radiohead a été sacré meilleur album de musique populaire de tous les temps.
D’après les répondants, ce disque méritait plus d’égards que The Joshua Tree, du groupe irlandais U2 et que Nevermind, de la défunte formation Nirvana. Le phénoménal Thriller du roi de la pop Michael Jackson accède aussi au top 5, devant le classique Dark Side of the Moon, du mythique groupe Pink Floyd.
Parmi les 100 ?uvres retenues, une autre appartenant à la formation Radiohead a accédé au classement. Le disque The Bends a atteint la 22e position, derrière Imagine de John Lennon, et devant Exodus, de Bob Marley and the Wailers. Michael Jackson et Oasis sont aussi cités à deux reprises, tandis que les légendaires Beatles apparaissent à trois occasions, avec les albums Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Revolver et The White Album.
