Sir Paul McCartney offrira sa première prestation à Israël, en dépit de menaces de mort lui ayant été proférées par des fanatiques musulmans endurcis.
Le musicien légendaire doit offrir une prestation lors du concert Friendship First, qui célèbre le 60e d?Israël et dont la sécurité sera assurée par des agents secrets armés au coût de un million de livres, en raison de menaces d?attentats suicides.
Une source a déclaré: «Quiconque tente d?intervenir rencontrera Allah plus tôt que prévu.»
Paul, 66 ans, s?est dit «estomaqué» après avoir entendu Omar Bakri, un prédicateur aux propos haineux, le déclarer «un ennemi» de tous les musulmans puisqu?il a accepté de se produire en spectacle dans l?État juif.
L?ex-Beatle a déclaré à la télévision israélienne: «Plusieurs groupes politiques m?ont approché pour me demander de ne pas venir ici. J?ai refusé. J?agis selon ma conscience et j?ai beaucoup d?amis qui soutiennent Israël.»
Des experts en sécurité israéliens ont recommandé au musicien qu?il renforce son équipe de sécurité.
Omar Bakri, qui vit maintenant au Liban après s?être enfui du Royaume-Uni en 2005 et qui en a été banni, a affirmé au sujet de la décision de Paul de participer au concert : «L?ami de notre ennemi est aussi notre ennemi. Nous disposons d?agents ?sacrificiels? qui ne resteront pas indifférents au fait qu?il se joigne à la fête de leurs oppresseurs.»
«S?il tient à sa vie, monsieur McCartney ne doit pas se présenter en Israël.»
Le porte-parole de Paul a refusé de commenter les menaces de mort et a simplement déclaré: «Paul participe au concert Friendship First pour sa musique. Le message de Paul en est un de paix.»
