All you read is love in a new Beatles book that is set to enchant the child in us all.
The Beatles much-loved magical animation adventure is surfacing again, now as a read-aloud journey for the whole family; the Yellow Submarine picture book. The timelessly appealing tale is to be published in August (8/4/04 in the US) through a new partnership of Candlewick Press of Cambridge, Mass. and Apple Corps as a fabulously-illustrated picture book.
Featuring the wit and wizardy of the Sixties script alongside original artwork from the movie that has charmed both children and adults through four generations, this is a book to delight everyone .
The Yellow Submarine is Apple Corps’ first picture book. Apple’s only other publishing venture was the best-selling Beatles Anthology, which has sold more than two million copies worldwide since it was published in 1999. The Yellow Submarine picture book will be printed in eight languages.
The Yellow Submarine feature film was first released in 1968 and was instantly hailed as a classic for the pioneering pop art and ground-breaking animation created by designer Heinz Edelmann’s team of 200 artists and animators. In 1999 the film was digitally-restored and the sound remixed for a highly-successful DVD release. It was the success of that project that led to the idea of the Yellow Submarine picture book.
