Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in Pinner, West London, UK on 25th March 1947, he changed his name by deed poll to Elton John in homage to two of his strongest musical influences Elton Dean and Long John Baldry. He attended the Royal Academy of Music through a scholarship he won at age 11 and quickly established an individual performing and song writing style, teaming up with many successful partnerships including Bernie Taupin and Tim Rice, creating many of the most popular songs in modern culture. He gained the title of Sir for his services to music and charity fund raising, particularly in the Aids arena. From his first album in 1969 Elton John has placed himself in the highest category of modern singer song writers, alongside The Beatles and Elvis Presley. We hope you enjoy this Tribute to Elton John Collection, performed by The Pop Allstars.
